PixelVision is one of those Steam skins that are simple in design but have a certain hardcore gamer feel added to them. Despite featuring numerous upgrades, it still maintains a close similarity to the original Steam client in its general overlay. That means Steam users can find it easy transitioning to this skin.
Let’s now get a deeper insight into what the skin is all about.
PixelVision Steam for skin takes a dark black color scheme that’s serious yet bold and clean. The header is solidly in place, with its grey blending seamlessly with the rest of the dark background. Also, the buttons for the skin are a bit more striking, which further adds an inch of beauty to the general aesthetics.
The buttons, boxes and other key information lie over a mix of deep black and dark blue hues, which are quite stunning. PixelVision’s sections are laid together in a somewhat compact manner, but are all the same neat and easily accessible.
Though the skin adopts small and outdated fonts, readability is not an issue. Text on the games list is presented in a mix of bright white and vibrant yellow colors while section titles are highlighted in light blue. Considering then the deep contrast between the text and background colors, reading through or accessing the various functions on the skin sections is just a breeze.
Maneuverability is quite easy with PixelVision thanks to the proper layout of various functions and text items. The Store, Library, Community and other titles and icons to the right of the header are vividly brought out, which also increases usability.
You don’t have to try so hard accessing the Big Picture Mode as the shortcut is conveniently placed on the top right corner of the skin. Furthermore, the in game pop-ups and notifications are very vivid, something any gamer would love very much.
PixelVision is a dark themed skin that can serve as an upgrade from the rather bland and dull default Steam interface. Everything from its striking menu organization to the superb legibility through to greater maneuverability makes this skin quite likable.
Perhaps the only downside with PixelVision is that the skin version is no longer updated. So it may be lacking some of the latest interface additions. But the skin still works great and has its own group of aficionados. You can give it a try if you’re tired of the default interface.
Getting the PxelVision skin up and running on your computer is not that hard. All you have to do is follow these steps:
